European Union GDPR update

The European Union's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which is designed to protect the privacy of EU citizens, takes effect in May 2018. After consulting with legal counsel and other sources, the Common App has developed a plan to ensure our technology and business processes are compliant with the new regulations. Below is additional information you can share with others on your campus.

Will the Common App be compliant with the EU GDPR?
Yes. All technology and business practices will be compliant by the deadline of May 25, 2018.

Will the Common App Privacy Policy be updated?
Yes. There will be a new section specific to GDPR. As with any other changes to the policy, we will alert users by indicating the "date of last update" on all properties.

Will there be changes in the Common App product?
Yes. We will introduce new affirmations to ensure we are able to appropriately alert and track individuals impacted by GDPR.

Is the Common App working with its vendors and partners to ensure compliance?
Yes. We are updating agreements and processes as needed to ensure compliance with GDPR guidelines.  

Is the Common App considered a data processor under GDPR?
