Common App gets a refresh every year on August 1. Your account and some of your information rolls over no matter when you plan to apply.
What information rolls over?
We’ll roll over:
-
Your username and password
-
My Common Application responses*
-
Your college list
-
Advisor invites
-
PDFs of your previous applications (if any)
*Common App may make changes to My Common Application questions during our refresh. Your responses to questions we’ve changed or removed won’t roll over.
What information doesn’t roll over?
Common App won’t save:
-
Your responses to questions in the My Colleges section
-
Writing supplements
-
Your FERPA release authorization
-
Counselor, teacher, and other recommender invites
-
Response to the Common App fee waiver question
-
Direct admissions offers and scholarship matches
-
Your response to the Common App fee waiver question
What do I need to do before rollover?
If you’ve answered questions in the My Colleges section but won’t apply this year, here’s what you need to do before July 28:
-
Save your responses to individual college questions and any writing supplements outside of Common App (e.g. Google Drive, Microsoft Word).
-
Save counselor, teacher, and other recommender names and emails outside of Common App. If you’ve already invited recommenders, you’ll need to invite them again after your account rolls over.
How do I roll over my account?
Sign in to your Common App account with your existing email and password any time after August 1. We’ll ask some questions, then roll over your information. You can choose to keep or remove any college you previously added to your list.
